Susan Turpin

Susan Turpin is a pediatric nurse practitioner who cares for infants, children and young adults with heart disease. Seeing patients in both the hospital and the clinic, she provides education, specialized heart-related care, care related to surgical procedures and assistance with cardiac devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators. She has worked at UCSF for more than 20 years.

Turpin's research has focused on new treatments for children with heart conditions.

Turpin earned a bachelor's degree in nursing at the University of San Francisco. At UCSF, she earned her master's degree in nursing and completed training to become a pediatric nurse practitioner; she also trained to become a clinical nurse specialist, with a focus in pediatric critical care.

Outside of work, Turpin enjoys tending her orchids and roses, wine tasting and reading non-gory murder mysteries. She also loves spending time with her two German shepherds.
