The Pediatric Aerodigestive Clinic specializes in diagnosing and treating children with complex airway, swallowing and nutritional problems.
We also help families cope with aspects of their child's condition or treatment that make eating at home more complicated, such as having a tracheostomy or gastrostomy tube (G-tube).
Evaluating Your Child
During a single comprehensive appointment, your child is evaluated by our team of pediatric specialists. The team includes an otolaryngologist, a gastroenterologist and a pulmonologist, as well as a speech-language pathologist with expertise in swallowing and a dietitian. Based on testing results and the input of the various specialists, we create a complete, personalized treatment plan for your child.
We offer state-of-the-art diagnostic tests, such as a functional endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) for pediatric patients. The FEES provides a real-time assessment of swallowing that doesn't require X-rays, unlike the traditional modified barium swallow study.
To limit the number of times your child receives general anesthesia, we do any tests that require it – such as FEES, airway evaluations and GI endoscopies – at the same visit.
